ABOUT ABOUT

For the past two years, the popularity of mindfulness has met with increasing critique from within its communities, and from without. Secular applications in health care and organizations have been characterized as “McMindfulness” — a practice that is deficient in ethical content and complicit in supporting the status quo inside organizations and in the social order. How can one make sense of these arguments? How has the secular mindfulness community responded? What new ways of thinking about mindfulness may be needed? Don McCown, co-director of the Center for Contemplative Studies hopes to explore these questions—with your help—in the first seminar of the new academic year.

Come practice, learn, and engage in dialogue with our own mindfulness community.
