The College of Health Sciences at West Chester University and the Pennsylvania Department of Health invite area health and physical education teachers to attend the SPARK Healthy Changes Workshop–
MVPA (Moderate to Vigorous Physical Activity) is a nationally recognized benchmark for PEP grants and an essential component of quality physical education and physical activity programs. This active and FUN workshop will show K-12 physical educators how to increase MVPA during PE classes and in other environments.
Participants will learn research-based MVPA content, instructional methodologies, assessment strategies, and how and what they teach is directly reflected in student MVPA outcomes. When this active day concludes attendees leave ready to increase and assess student MVPA and themselves via self and peer check styles. And they'll receive the tools and resources to begin the very next day!
After lunch, attendees will learn how to create a healthy school community to support physical activity and healthy eating. A healthy school community includes a school health council, effective wellness policy, and consistent messages and strategies to promote physical activity and healthy eating for students, staff, and families
