Mental Health First Aid is a public education program designed to teach everyday citizens the skills to help another person who is struggling with a mental health concern or crisis. This evidence based program provides a comprehensive overview of the most common mental health issues and a step by step action plan.
The curriculum includes two hours of self paced, online instruction to be completed prior to the instructor led session on August 16, which is mandatory. Registrants who are unable to complete it, will be required to find an alternative session to attend after completion. Once you have registered, a link will be sent to you to access the self paced portion.
Registration closes August 8.
Each participant receives access to the Mental Health First Aid online manual, and certification by the National Council for Behavioral Health as a "Mental Health First Aider." Certification is valid for a period of 3 years, and then renewable online.
